This is a great video to watch if you’re flying out of Barcelona Airport.

It shows you the bars and shops that you’ll find once you’ve checked into Departures.

So if you haven’t bought those last minute presents or need to grab something to eat before you fly, you can rest assured.

The food is much better than on the plane, by the way.

How do I get from Barcelona airport to a hotel in Port Olimpic near a Metro station?
I’m not renting a car and am travelling with a child and a good amount of luggage.
What would be the options and the approximate costs?

Thanks.

Answer: A taxi will cost you about 30 Euros, but is fastest.

I would recommend taking the train from the airport to Passeig de Gracia, then transferring to the Metro L4 (yellow line) in the direction of La Pau. I assume your hotel is near Ciutadella-Villa Olimpica, but you can check Google maps for how to walk from there.

The downsides are

  1. a somewhat long, though well-marked, transfer from the train to metro
  2. Pickpockets, especially if you’re carrying luggage and looking after a child. So make sure all of your personal belongings are secure.
  3. Cost is about 2.60 per person for the ride, much less (about 70 cents) if you buy a 10-ride ticket, which I recommend if you will be using public transport during your stay.

There is also a bus that goes to Placa de Catalunya, but it is a little more expensive than the train. What’s more you would have to take the Metro and change from the Green Line (L3) to the Yellow Line.

Too many transfers in my opinion.

Wonderful city. have fun!
