Use the SPAIN AIRPORT CAR HIRE SEARCH to compare prices from local and international companies and get the BEST car rentals deal.

I am flying with my two year old to Alicante, Spain later this year to spend time with family.

They will pick me up from the airport so I don’t need to hire a car, but I will need to hire a car seat -I don’t want to take mine through luggage as its quite large and I’m travelling on my own with my daughter and don’t want to struggle with it through arrivals!!

Does anyone know of any companies in Spain that will hire just the car seat, (minus the car !) or any companies that provide baby equipment whilst abroad.

Thank you for any help.

ANSWER

Why don’t you talk to your family over there and see if they or a friend have one?

Alternatively, speak to your travel agent first as you might need to take the car seat on the plane for your 2 year old to sit in.

I have never heard of anyone hiring out baby seats – not least because who would trust them? You wouldn’t know if they had been involved in an accident which could render them dangerous.

It’s probably better to take your seat with you, its a hassle, but surely worth it?

Hi ! Flying to Spain on holiday next week. Flying into Barcelona Airport – Terminal A.

Never flown into Barcelona before – I assume this is quite a large airport.

Picking hire car up at airport also – this is the first time I have ever picked up a car at the airport – are the care hire companies located in a different terminal and if so are there walkways etc to get there ?

All help and assistance and tips appreciated !

Thanks

ANSWER

The airport terminals are a fair size compared to some and very busy. Currently expansion work is being undertaken. You will need to make your way to terminal B to check in for you car hire.

As you leave the exit at Terminal A head to the right, walk for approx 3-4 minutes to reach terminal B where you will find car hire service desks. The queues for the service desks are often long and slow so be patient!

To collect your vehicle leave the terminal B building, turn left until you reach a crossing area – be very careful here, cars and taxis don’t always stop for you and you have 6 lanes to encounter!

You will see some portacabins with green, yellow and white signage, this is where you need to hand in your paperwork to collect you vehicle.

If you are flying out of Barcelona there is a vast selection of shops beyond Passport Control where you could spend a fortune!!

Have a great time, Barcelona and surrounding areas are fantastic!

Should I hire a car or is it easy enough to get a direct bus from airport. Alternatively how much would a cab be?

Best Answer

There is no train or direct bus from the airport to Roquetas, but there is a choice of transfer.
Roquetas is between 14-18 miles away and an airport taxi, from outside arrivals, will get you there in less than 30 mins. for a price of 38euros (£25.70).

Shuttledirect will charge you 43.54euros (£29.60) for two persons, and must be booked on-line.
Transferstore can also be booked on-line, at a cost of £46.03 for 2 persons in a taxi. Alternatively, a standard transfer with them will cost £21.58 for 2 persons. With this, the cheapest option, you will not know until you arrive at the airport whether you are travelling in a taxi, mini-bus or coach.

All the airport information, including booking with transferstore, can be found on website.

Does anyone know of a car hire company in Mojacar spain that DOES NOT need a credit card when you pick up the car in Spain – the car needs to be picked up at the airport, by the way.
thanks

Best Answer

Hi, yes there are companies that rent a car without credit card. In Mojacar specifically I would recomend Europcar or Mocar, which also have cars at the airport.

I always rent a car without credit card. How? Well first I reserve a car over the internet at least a couple of companies and never american or multinational companies since they, will not rent you a car without credit card. Next, one on the pick up station, I do business as usual I check in my wallet, and try to pay with visa electron or similar non credit cards.

They always say I need a credit card to rent a car, I double check in my wallet, I curse politely against myself an d own stupidity, and I reply that I forgot my credit card and that I absolutelly need the car. I tell them I am a good client of theirs, mention I have rented their cars in other places and that since its not the first time that I forget the card and that I have already rented cars with that company before, without credit card, just puting down a deposit payment. In fact because they are flexible I always use them and I am their client. All these is true.

I tell them that I pay generally a 300 € down payment, which is also the truth and that also I not only pay the rental in advance but also I take extra insurance (10 €) to cover any possible misshaps, I insist I am a good client, I have reserved on line with them because I thnik they are the most reasonable and best company of car rentals and have never had a problem with them and have already use this method with them, that I have very important business to attend which cannot be done without a car, and ask them please to accept a deposit, that they establish a deposit fee they believe is reasonable and that I will pay it, gladly.

Of course they can always refuse but with a little friendliness, provoked empathy, and assuring them I am trust worthy and I am ready to back my words with my money by leaving a cash or electronic card payment, which goes inmediatelly into their account, unlike credit cards, that please I am a good client, I provide them with all type of ID driving license, passport, telephone number, permanet and temporary adress etc. I insist quite naturally that I have done it many times with them and never had a problem. Sometimes the person in the desk directly says OK, other times they call their bosses or main offices, and they also say yes, since after all, what they want it to have all their cars rented and there is quite a lot of competition.

The companies I indicated above have offices in Mojacar as well as Almeria Airport and/ or Alicante airport. I lived 3 years in Veraplaya, a couple of miles from Mojacar, I am spanish, yet often this companies where operated by either english or spanish personnel, so I do not think that my nationality influenced in any way. Also done that with same companies in Belgium, and Finland, with the same method.

Sp you have to convince them but I have always succeeded, by being very polite, friendly, saying I understand the policy but that I am a good client and please not to let me down. I have rented cars that way every time, at least 10 times, in different countries and never used credit card since I do not like them because they are a money fawcet (also sometimes tell them instead of the forgotten card, the real reason, namelly that I used to have credit card but my wife / sons / daughters over used them (depnding on male, female rental clerk for empathy, and I have had to cut it in a thousand pieces or else I could ruin myself. Insist be nice, relaxed, yet confident, before booking online, with the electron and havin the receit printed, look up a cpouple of their offices in Spain or other country, and say that only several weeks, months ago you did it with them no problem. They ask where and when, check their machine, If I do not figure in their data base I sday something must be wrong since I always reserve on line, and definitively I have done it before with them which is all true except maybe saying that the last time was only a cople of weeks or months ago, when maybe it was 6 months or a year before. I have always gotten the car.

So you need:
– To reserve online and pay reservation with visa or mastercard electron. Have printed receit of pay, ment resevation number etc.
– Have other ID´s ready and enough money to pay the deposit cash or electron
– The story very clear
– Offer them many differnt ways to contact you phone, address, temporary address. Or even say that you just moved there and that you are preparing all your documentation and business.
- Politeness, Education, Friendliness, Empathy and sense of Humour. Be very understanding yet persistent due to the absolute necesity to have a car, a better reason than just for driving around and tourism.

which company do you recommend

Carjet http://www.carjet.com is the one that I use. I have found them very reliable. They will often upgrade the car from the original one booked, at no extra cost. Their prices are also very competitive.

Car Hire is a great option at Girona Airport, which is ideally located for low-cost flights to the Costa Brava, Barcelona and the Catalan Pyrenees.

Six car rentals companies provide car hire at Girona Costa Brava Airport – Avis, Hertz, Auriga Crown, Europcar, Goldcar Rental and National Atesa.

Avis Car Hire At Girona-Costa Brava Airport

Avis Car Rentals have one office at Girona-Costa Brava Airport located on the Ground Floor (Planta 0).

If you have any problems with your booking, you’ll find that their website is not very helpful but you can call the Girona Airport Avis Car Hire office on +34 972 474 333

The reason why Avis is a good choice to hire a car from is that it is a stable and trusted brand and it also offers a big choice of pick up and drop off points. In Girona, they have offices at the airport and the Renfe railway station, as well as in most of the resorts along the Costa Brava and five offices in Barcelona.

Perhaps the only disadvantage of hiring a car from Avis is that they tend to be more expensive than local car rentals firms. However, if you travel a lot and need to hire a car regularly, Avis have lots of discounts for faithful and regular customers.

Getting To Girona Airport By Car

Girona Airport is located at approximately twelve kilometres from Girona between the towns of Vilobi D’Onyar and Aiguaviva in a region known as La Selva, which is very convenient for resorts at the southern end of the Costa Brava.

Airport access is from the N-II and C-25 highways and exit 8 of the AP-7 motorway. Each has a well-signposted turnoff that joins the 1,700 metre-long road to the airport.
