Can anyone help me with metro stations to reach British Embassy in Madrid – I live in Barcelona.
How far is it from airport? How much does it cost by taxi? What’s the metro stop? or any other means of transport . . .
Answer
Can´t you solve your problem in the Consulate-General in Barcelona? The address is Avenida Diagonal 477, 13ª planta, phone +34-93.366.6200.
Otherwise . . . the British Embassy in Madrid is in C/Fernando el Santo 16 and the closest Metro stations are Colon and Alonso Martinez.
From the Airport take the Metro to Nuevos Ministerios, change there to line 8 in direction "Puerta del Sud". Alfonso Martinez is then the second stop. Look there for Calle del Almagro. The first street to the right is Fernando el Santo.
Both Metro stations at Madrid-Barajas (in Terminal 4 and in Terminal 2) are information points for both the Metro de Madrid and Madrid Turismo, so the people there will be glad to help you.
Travel time from the terminals will be about 30 minutes and the price from airport is €2. (On the way back it will only cost €1 – you have to pay a €1 supplement at the machines at the airport.)
If you have any problems, you should check these websites:-

I have to go to El Escorial next week and I am flying to Madrid. Does any kind soul know which metro line/station and which train I need to get there?
PS. Have been to Madrid before but never used public transport.
BEST ANSWER
From terminals 4(Iberia and One World group) and Terminal 2 (all other airlines) take the Metro to Nuevos Ministerios (ed of the line). At the entrance to the metro in both terminals is an information of Metro Madrid, which will help you with a map of the system, also in www.metromadrid.es.
At Nuevos Ministerios you have to change the metro line (don´t remember the number of the line) to Chamartin, 4 stops only. In Chamartin go up to the rail station. For the line to El Escorial look up www.renfe.es.
Go to the page on Cercanias of Madrid. It is a red C. there you can look up the time table and print it out. That is the best I can do.
The Metro from the terminals runs about every 5 minutes, travelling time to Nuevos Ministerios about 20 minutes, from there to Chamartin about 10 minutes.
Have a good trip!
We will be visiting Spain next month and we are traveling with our 8 month old daughter. I need to rent a car seat to use for 7 days. Are there taxi or other transportation services that offer baby safety seats. I’m mainly worried about the trip from the airport to our hotel.
Best Answer
I think its better to bring my own, I then know what condition the car seat in.
Every time I rent one it never seems to be in great condition.
By the way, most airlines allow you to transport the car seat for free, and not counted as a piece of luggage
If you watch this video, you’ll see that Madrid-Barajas can be pretty surreal at times.

My wife is Colombian, and is travelling with me to England. Our flight connects in Madrid so does she need a transit visa for passing through Madrid airport?? Note: The UK visa that she has is not valid for the European Union.
We have little time left before our journey and need to know quickly! The Spanish Embassy does not pick up the phone!
Thanks.
ANSWER
No. Citizens of Columbia do not require Airport Transit Visas (ATV) as long as they do not leave the airport transit area.
At least 100 people were killed after a passenger plane swerved off the runway at Madrid’s Barajas airport in August 2008.
Many others were hurt when the Spanair plane bound for the Canary Islands left the runway with 172 people on board.
I think this was the worst accident in Madrid Airport’s history and inevitably caused a great deal of upset here in Spain.

This might be a totally "out-there" question but I’m going to be flying into Madrid and then I have to get to Seville. I’m going to be taking the train to Seville.
I’m really pumped about the fact that it will only take 2.5hrs to get there but I have no idea where the airport is in relation to the nearest train station in Madrid.
Is it connected to the airport or very close by? Has anyone out there gone this route before?
ANSWER:
If you’re going to Seville in 2.5 hours, I deduce that you’re taking the high-speed AVE train (Alta Velocidad Española) and that means you have to get to Atocha Railway Station.
You’ve got two options.
1) Take the Madrid Metro from the Airport to Nuevos Ministerios and then change to the Atocha Line.
2) A taxi takes about 45 mins and will cost you €30 plus – there are always plenty of taxis outside Arrivals but as most taxi drivers don’t speak English, I suggest you write your destination – ATOCHA ESTACION DE TREN on a piece of paper
