The shuttle bus costs £21 per person but for £60 you can get a taxi to Benidorm,

If you’re travelling alone the difference is significant but if there’s two or more of you the extra cost is worth it in terms of comfort and convenience.

Surprisingly easy, and I’ve done it by public transport and using the transfer company “Shuttle direct”.
The public bus runs hourly, on the hour, commencing at 0800hrs and costs around 8 euros single, 16 euros return. It must be remembered that the bus drops you off at the bus stop in Avenida Europa, Benidorm. Many hotels and apartments are some distance from here and you would, more than likely, need a taxi to finish the journey.
This is where “Shuttle direct” becomes the better bet for many people.
At the moment they are quoting £9.00p each way for the transfer. The advantage is that they drop you off and pick you up at your accommodation. You book them on-line. On arrival at Alicante airport, after collecting your luggage, you go to their desk in the arrivals hall and they direct you to their coach/minibus. The process is very easy and they are a reliable and well established company.
My preference would have to be “Shuttle direct” not only for the convenience but also for the safety issue. You are not exposing yourself to the same risks (which you have to consider) if you are transported from door to door.

I am flying with my two year old to Alicante, Spain later this year to spend time with family.

They will pick me up from the airport so I don’t need to hire a car, but I will need to hire a car seat -I don’t want to take mine through luggage as its quite large and I’m travelling on my own with my daughter and don’t want to struggle with it through arrivals!!

Does anyone know of any companies in Spain that will hire just the car seat, (minus the car !) or any companies that provide baby equipment whilst abroad.

Thank you for any help.

ANSWER

Why don’t you talk to your family over there and see if they or a friend have one?

Alternatively, speak to your travel agent first as you might need to take the car seat on the plane for your 2 year old to sit in.

I have never heard of anyone hiring out baby seats – not least because who would trust them? You wouldn’t know if they had been involved in an accident which could render them dangerous.

It’s probably better to take your seat with you, its a hassle, but surely worth it?

I like these videos of planes landing and taking off at Spanish Airports.
This one shows an Airbus A321 landing at Alicante Airport in Spain on a very hot day – the temperature was 39ºc

If you’re planning on driving to Benidorm from Alicante Airport this video will give you an idea of what the journey will be like.

It’s actually it’s a 5-minute speeded up version of a drive that normally takes about 45 minutes.

A bit silly, but at least it gives you an idea of what to expect.

We need a GPS when we arrive at Alicante Airport. Which is best to rent or to buy? Do car hire companies rent these out?

ANSWER: Yes, they do! If you use our Spain Airport Car Hire Search, once you get to the Booking page, you’ll see a number of ‘Optional Extras’ at the bottom of the screen – GPS in the language of your choice is generally one of these.

How much a GPS costs depends on the company, so keep an eye on your Totals and use the back button on your browser to find the cheapest deal.

Renting works out much cheaper, by the way!

An excellent video of a Jet2.com Boeing 737 Landing at Alicante Airport from Manchester. You see the long approach from the sea, catch a glimpse of some of the Costa Blanca beaches and then taxi to Alicante Airport Terminal Building
